Well Jess,
Getting obsessed about anything may not be the right way to go. Staying highly motivated (as your blog has shown time and again) is a healthier way.

You are achieving outstanding results!
You have motivated so many!
You are educating many!
You are openly sharing your experiences!
You are showing intelligent approaches to loosing weight!
And maybe most importantly...
You are a very pretty and sexy lady.

Look in that mirror Jess, if you see what I see here at your blog, you'll have a big smile and feel very proud!

Hi Healthygirl,
You like many others are in a "tricky" situation. I was just talking to a client of mine this morning...Are you fat because you feel bad about yourself? Or do you feel bad about yourself, and therefore you are fat?

I try to get my clients to stick to a program with little, daily steps. These steps may seem too simple, but if practiced day after day...they will add up and produce beneficial results such as fat loss, etc.

I encourage you and your readers to dig deep. Do this for you, and no one else. Be selfish. Commit to those little steps like exercising each day, drinking more water, etc...and your body will respond kindly.

I know that some may say "easier said than done". Honestly, your body doesn't care about phrases and excuses...it will take care of itself, as long as you help it too.

Best,
Stephen

Healthygirl Wow I just wrote about this exact thing the other day. And there are SO many people like us out there! People need to hear us express these things because they are feeling the same way and think they are alone! Here were my thoughts on "loving yourself".
http://www.benaturallywell.com/blog/2008/07/appreciate-who-you-are-right-now/

Jessica while you are there will you take a moment to add your blog to the Be Naturally Well community? My readers really need to hear what you are saying.

Many Blessings,
Shelley

Marie, thanks for the pep talk. I never thought I would gain so much insight by writing a blog!:) I'll take a look at the book, always good for the soul. I know it depends on our attitude. A happy person is more attractive and lovely than a grumpy person.

Healthygirl, this post is so timely for me.

I was a normal size my whole life. I never had problems finding clothes, I was comfortable in my body. Then I gained almost 100 pounds after my husband died, from a variety of causes, mostly related to inactivity. I had always been a walker and I stopped that.

But that was over ten years ago now. I feel SOOOO bad about myself. I think I am a disgusting gross pig and I am mortified by the way I look. I never thought I was a raving beauty before, but at least I was thin. lol

However in the past week alone, I have had a half a dozen people tell me how lovely I am, despite the weight. None of these people know each other so it wasn't a conspiricy. lol

This is something my therapist has been telling me all along too. She actually gave me a book called "My Beautiful Broken Shell" about how we can all be beautiful despite not being perfect.

And I can see from your picture, you ARE beautiful.

I know losing weight is important to us for our health, but you are so right, beating ourselves up along the way is not going to help.

Hang in there sweetie!!

Fondly,
Marie

Hey Healthygirl, I agree, it take more positive confession. Many people are surprised when I explain how much attitude and confidence can make a huge difference.

I know this to be true because I've seen much change in my life having addressed those areas, as well as others.
