Healthy You Challenge Week 10 – Don’t Be Afraid Of Food

Just so I’m on the same page as HYC (healthy you challenge) I’m going to name this and future posts as Healthy You Challenge.

This is the end of my third week without the scale. It went very well! I’ve been practicing attune/intuitive eating, which means becoming more attuned to the body’s natural hunger signals. Can you believe I’ve trouble decoding my hunger signal? All I know is that I want food. Sometimes it’s easy to identify it as cravings. The whole point with this exercise is to eat when you’re hungry, avoiding deprivation and the starvation mode that will lead you into overeating. So basically I ate what I wanted, I had ice cream almost every evening. Sometimes I’m afraid to eat the food I love because I had been dieting for so long so it’s hard to let go of the idea of good food vs. bad food. Last couple of days has been good, I’m able to pick up my hunger signals better.

Since my mental energy is free up from food and scale, I’m able to keep up with my exercises better. I’m feeling fit and lean, but I admit that wasn’t enough. I did use my Omron hand held to measure my body fat. It seems to be going down. 🙂 Ok, that’s a really bad habit, hard to break, because I shouldn’t need that either, not until the end of the month. I’ve to learn to trust my body more.

This week’s goals are the same as last week.
30 minutes of Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum (Monday-Friday)
Stop eating after 8pm
Weight lifting:
Monday – Arms and stomach
Tuesday – Shoulders
Wednesday – Back
Thursday – Chest and stomach
Friday – Legs

    I see that “stop eating after 8” is the one you have everyday. I agree with that (aside from weddings or other special functions)

    I think one of the biggest things to remember, is that if a day is missed here or there with working out, it’s not the end of the world…that comes later 😉

    I’m with Bobby on this one too. Although I go a little farther and say stop eating 3 hours before bedtime.
