Weekly Progress 03/29/2008

Posted on March 29, 2008 Comments here (3) ♥

What did I do wrong this week?…well, I was trying too hard and it backfired! That’s what happened. I got sick and gained weight (of course), because I didn’t listen to my body. It was really frustrated but lessons learned. Despite major setback I’m in a better mood today because I know I’ll have an awesome upcoming week.

I’ve focused too much on the scale on my weekly progress posts by writing how much weight I’d lost or gained. So I’ll only update it on my weight loss progress page. From now on I’m just going to write about my success I make each week, this way I’ll be more inspired to do the tasks needed to lose weight.

My success:

Wednesday Check In 03/26/2008

Posted on March 26, 2008 Comments here (3) ♥

I thought the spring was on the way, but it’s cold and snows alot lately. I don’t feel so well physically and having done two sessions of Natalie Cassidy’s Then And Now Workout dvd made it even worse. I got plenty of rest yesterday and today. Hopefully, I can go out and get some fresh air tomorrow and continue with my routines. I’ll probably just walk for the rest of this week.
Nothing much happens on the scale, but I shouldn’t put too much focus on that. I should be counting the success of being fitter and the healty changes I made. To be fitter I need to put focus on the exercises. So at the weekly weight in I’ll be counting on how many successes I’ll have. So far, my success for this week is two sessions of natalie workout.

Weekly Progress 03/22/2008

Posted on March 22, 2008 Comments here (1) ♥

A few days of junkfood and not a lot of actions this week. I’m blaming it on my monthly hormones. The good thing was the junkfood didn’t taste as good as before. This week I did one session of Qi-gong (1 hour) and one session of Natalie Cassidy’s Then And Now Workout DVD (55min). I like this dvd! Not too advance or too many moves, but still giving me the sweat! Also, I get a glimse of the future, I CAN do it ;;)

  • This week weight gain: 0.44 lbs (0.2kg)
  • Total weight loss: 3 lbs (1.4kg)
  • Current weight: 159 lbs (72.1kg)

Analyzing the graph (lbs)

graph-mar22.gif

There are three lines on the graph: A is the highest point, B is the average, and C is the lowest. I’m on line B right now, which means if I continue to do too few exercises I would continue to gain weight and I would probably past my highest point on line A, which is 159.4 lbs (72.3kg). So, my next challenge is to turn the trend down, break through line C, which is 158.5 lbs (71.9kg).

Lose weight successfully

Posted on March 19, 2008 Comments here (7) ♥

Every little thing you do will maximize the chance to lose weight successfully. In the past, I often overlooked the little things because I didn’t understand why I should do them. Take the #4 on the list for example , why should I keep a food journal when I can remember everything? The fact is that I’ve alot of things to deal with already so I don’t need to keep it in my head and feel stress about it. Plus, it’s easier to get focused on the overall progress of eating habits. I can’t fool myself how many late-night eatings I had when I’ve the written journal as the evidence. I cannot depend on my thought, because it’s behaving like a lawyer trying to find a loophole.

So here are the little things to do to lose weight successfully :

  1. Graph your progress. This one is very important! Work for the trend. It’s like stock market, you need to have some understanding in the trend to succeed. You will understand your weight loss process better if you know how your progress looks like. It helps you to focus on trends rather than weekly weigh in, which could fluctuate from week to week. You’ll feel less frustrated and happier over the progress. It will also help you understand that you didn’t blow your diet or weight loss process just because you’ve gone up a few pounds. There are still time to push the trend down.
  2. Make a video of yourself exercising and watch it. It’ll be weird watching yourself, lol. I think this is a good technique to prevent yourself from overeating and keep your goal insight. You might considered not to eat the cake when you see yourself exercising so hard. Here’s the big picture: you’ll notice all the flab that jiggle and ask yourself, is it really worth it to eat this much and then have to exercise that hard? Plus, you’ll feel you have exercise already just by watching and don’t eat. It will keep you occupied thinking about that than turning to food.
  3. List the reasons why you want to lose weight on an index card. As I wrote in earlier post on Top 10 reasons to lose weight, thoughts are fantasies. If you write it down you’ll focus much better at the tasks.
  4. Keep food journal. You’ll have an overlook and feel if you have been eating healthy enough or how much you really have for the snacks. A few days of junk foods may be ok but more than that, then it’s time to turn the wheels. Keeping food journal will also help you to look at the progress and not day by day.
  5. Read other weight loss blogs. I said read not visit :) It will put your thinking cap on and make you want to lose weight. You’ll learn from their misstakes and successes. Leaving encourage comments to others is like hypnotizing yourself to do better.
  6. Start blogging about your weight loss journey. You’ll definately have the thinking cap on and perhaps new idea will emerge. You’ll get lots of support and focus better. Not convince? John is fit has written 4 reasons you should be writing a weight loss blog.
  7. Write down your anti-craving techniques. When it hits, go through the list. It might not work the first time, but it will eventually. The Beck Diet Solution list really good examples how to think when you’re having cravings.
  8. Eat fruit after the meal to lessen the cravings. It didn’t work right away for me but it does after a few weeks. If it doesn’t, at least your body will get the extra nutritions it needs.
  9. Choose exercises that are easy to follow, but still giving you the sweat! If it’s too hard, you’ll feel dreaded and just end up stop doing it in the long run.

Change Environment To Lose Weight

Posted on March 17, 2008 Comments here (4) ♥

I’ve a new design on my blog, I want it to reflect the positive energy of weight loss. I want to look like the coconut girl on the top left, white bikini, flower in the hair, and a fresh coconut in my hand on a summer day, but except for the big head of course ;;) My old blog reflected the feelings of calming home and comfort, which is not aligning with my goal at the moment. I think changing the surroundings will help you achieve success in weight loss.
Here are a few more tips:

  • I used to have cookies at home in case I want some, but always ended up eating more than I should. So don’t have cookies or other sweets lying around in your house, and then relying on the will power not to eat too many.
  • Buy some exercise equipments for easy access, so you don’t have to go to the gym for the lazy days.
  • Have you seen Google workplace where they use stability balls in the office? You can incorporate the stability balls in your home too and use it like a chair, sit and bounce on it, or do a mini exercise as you watch TV, talk on the phone or working.

If you have more tips and ideas, please do share them.

Top 10 Reasons To Lose Weight

Posted on March 12, 2008 Comments here (5) ♥

As you know, I picked up The Beck Diet Solution a couple weeks ago. The book suggested that you should write down why you want to lose weight on an index card. That way, you can review them later when you’re feeling low and don’t want to do excersices or eating healthy.

I’ve been straying off from my goal lately because I didn’t do that writing down part. It’s much more effective to write them down instead of just thinking about them. Everything in your head are fantasies but by writing down your thoughts on paper, your goals will become real because you can read and look at them. Plus, every little things you do will maximize the chance to success, right?

So, let’s start! Here are my reasons to lose weight:

  • To be healthy, feeling strong, and fit
  • To gain energy and stamina
  • To feel better about myself
  • To feel like a million bucks
  • To be able to wear a bra that fits
  • So no one have to wonder if I’m pregnant
  • To be able to shop cute outfits online without worrying if they’ll fit.
  • To be able to wear jeans without fighting with my zipper
  • So I can easily and comfortly bend over and tie my shoes.
  • To buy any clothes I like without spending hours in the store trying to find something to fit.

Please, feel free to add more to the list.
